It's Christmastime, Charlie Brown! And with Christmastime comes Christmas movies like the aptly named "A Charlie Brown Christmas."
Premiering in 1965 as the first "Peanuts" holiday special, "A Charlie Brown Christmas" follows the story of our favorite mopey protagonist, Charlie Brown, as he struggles with his disappointment over the commercialism of Christmas. When he becomes the director of the kids' holiday play, he struggles to point his singing and dancing peers toward discovering the true meaning of Christmas, obtaining an iconic little tree in the process.
"Peanuts" specials have been a mainstay of the holidays since the 60s, with other favorites like "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" and "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" following the release of the Christmas special.
Some fans may be disappointed to find that since 2020, the "Peanuts" properties have lived behind a paywall as part of a subscription streaming service. But, in the spirit of holiday cheer, the special will be available for free on two separate occasions before Dec. 25 this year.
